Jon Sundt

Jon Sundt

Jon has been in the alternative investments industry for over 23 years. Jon served for six years as Director of Managed Accounts and Senior Vice President of the Managed Investments Division of Man Financial, a subsidiary of the Man Group, prior to founding Altegris Investments, Inc. Jon is also the founder and President of International Traders Research Inc. (ITR), a highly acclaimed Altegris affiliate that provides performance information on alternative investment programs worldwide. ITR's research has been used and quoted by a variety of financial publications, including The Wall Street Journal, Chicago Tribune, Alternative Investment Management Association, and Financial Times, among others.

Jon is a Director and President of Altegris Investments and a managing member of Altegris Capital. He currently serves as President and Director of APM Funds, an Altegris company that acts as a General Partner to several hedge funds and commodity pools. Jon is an active member of the Young Presidents' Organization, a peer network of global business leaders in more than 80 nations, and Vistage International, the world's largest CEO membership organization. He is also the Founder and President of the Sundt Memorial Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring young people to make healthy choices and not use drugs through the Natural High ® DVD Series.

Jon majored in computer science and minored in economics at the University of California, San Diego.

Robert Amedeo

Bob Amedeo

Bob is a Director and an Executive Vice President of Altegris. From 1978 to 1980, Bob was employed by the SEC, Division of Enforcement. In March 1980, he joined a Chicago law firm, where he was made a partner in June 1985. In August 1985, he withdrew from this law firm and became "Of Counsel", a position he held until joining Altegris in June 2002. Beginning in 1985, Bob was President and a Director of Rockwell Futures Management, Inc. (now APM Funds), and until July 2002 was President of Rockwell Investments, Inc. (now Altegris Investments Inc.).

Bob is the past chairman of an advisory committee to the North American Association of Securities Administrators (NAASA) with respect to their Omnibus Committee's review of the NAASA Guidelines on Commodity Pool Programs. He has acted as a member of the NFA Hearing Committee and is currently the Chairman of its CPO/CTA Advisory Committee.

Bob is a Director and an Executive Vice President of Altegris Investments and a managing member of Altegris Capital. He currently serves as a Vice President and Director of APM Funds. Mr. Amedeo is a 1975 graduate of Northwestern University and received a Juris Doctor degree from DePaul University in 1978.


Dick Pfister

Dick Pfister, CAIA

Dick has over 13 years of experience in the alternative investments arena. Over the course of his professional career, he has gained knowledge in trading and systems analysis. His research and commentary have been quoted in a variety of news publications. Throughout his career, he has established relationships with internationally known CTAs and hedge fund managers.

Dick began his career as a technical analyst and trader on the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. After trading in the currency and stock index futures markets for several years, he managed the Global Macro CTA Trade Desk for Dean Witter Reynolds. Later, Dick became the Managing Editor of International Traders Research Inc. (ITR), a La Jolla, California-based former subsidiary of Man Financial's Managed Investments Division, a current affiliate of Altegris Investments, Inc.

Dick is a Director and an Executive Vice President of Altegris Investments, and a managing member of Altegris Capital. He currently serves as a Vice President and Director of APM Funds. His primary responsibilities include researching alternative investments, product review, and providing support to institutional clientele. He earned his degree at the University of San Diego, graduating with a concentration in Finance.


Max Eagye

G. Maxwell Eagye

Max is the Director of Futures Operations for Altegris Investments, and a key member of the ManagedFutures.com team. Max joined Altegris in 1998 and is responsible for all aspects of Altegris's Futures and Trading business, including strategic relationships with Futures Commission Merchants (FCMs) and service providers, oversight of trader and client services, and tracking of communication and cost flows.

A native San Diegan, Max gained experience in 1988 on the floor of the Coffee, Sugar and Cocoa Exchange (CSC) in New York while with B&J Commodities, and later in 1989 worked on the floor of the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) in grains, for the firm Rodman & Renshaw.

Max graduated from California State University, Chico in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration/Finance and holds his NASD Series 3 certification. Max is part of the Altegris Trade Services Group, which provides support and consulting services for CTAs and CPOs.


Michael Lock

Mike Lock

Mike joined the Altegris team in June of 2005, and specializes in CTA servicing, management of FCM relationships, forensic accounting, cost control, execution services and client account analysis.

Mike began his career working as a Financial Advisor with Morgan Stanley in Santa Rosa, CA, where he worked from July 2002 to August 2003. At Morgan Stanley, Mike specialized in portfolio analysis and construction with private clients. Mike graduated with honors from UC Davis in 2001 with Bachelor’s Degrees in Economics and Philosophy. He holds the designation NASD Series 3 and 31 certifications. Mike is part of the Altegris Trade Services Group.


Allen H. Cheng

Allen H. Cheng

Allen brings 18 years of hedge fund and alternative investment experience to Altegris in his current role as Managing Director, Research and Investments. Before joining Altegris, Allen served as Managing Director, Head of Fund of Funds Portfolio Management at Bank of America’s Alternative Investment Group. In this role, Mr. Cheng built and directed the hedge fund portfolio investment team and additionally oversaw numerous hedge fund products across diverse strategies. He has significant experience in the alternative investment industry, particularly in the area of identifying, selecting, and monitoring hedge fund managers across multiple investment disciplines. Allen’s previous experience includes responsibility as Managing Director, Head of Research for Optima Fund Management, an investment advisory firm specialized in alternative investments. He began his alternative investment career at Moore Capital Management managing asset allocation and research for hedge fund multi-manager products. Allen earned his BA in Finance from the University of Maryland and MBA from the University of Michigan.


Lara Magnusen

Lara Magnusen, CAIA

With over 10 years of industry experience and four years of experience on the Altegris research team, Ms. Magnusen currently serves as Vice President of Research and Investments. Ms. Magnusen previously served as Director of Manager Research for Cabezon Capital LLC / Borton Hermeneutics LLC, responsible for monitoring and developing seeded managers. Additional experience includes her tenure as an Associate Portfolio Manager and Director of Investor Relations at Helix Investment Partners, a capital structure arbitrage hedge fund, as well as a several years as a financial analyst at Goldman Sachs. Ms. Magnusen holds a B.A. in Economics with a minor in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley. She also has an M.B.A. from the Rady School of Management at the University of California, San Diego. She holds the designation of CAIA.


Nick Maffeo, CAIA

Nick joined the Altegris team in September of 2005 as a Senior Research Associate. His current role consists of analyzing and monitoring Altegris’ current managed futures platform, as well as searching for new and emerging managed futures talent. Prior to joining Altegris, Nick was a Compliance Analyst at LPL Financial, analyzing client accounts to look for anomalies. Nick also gained experience at Legg Mason, a global asset management firm.

Nick graduated Cum Laude from Shippensburg University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Finance and a minor in Economics.
